I'm a Part-time ("Bench-Top") woodworker, I believe that a shop doesn't have to be huge or expensive to create quality projects. My goal is to help you Maximize Your Shop's capabilities, regardless of your space! I'll bring you my best woodworking how to advice, tips and lots of free plans!
Although I wish I could spend more time or money in my shop, I can't. I use bench-top machines, home-made jigs, and an efficient layout in order to maximize the output potential of my garage shop and minimize the amount of time to set up for each project.
I'm required to move every few years as part of my job progression. For anyone that has ever moved machines around, or ever moved a shop...you know it is not fun. My entire shop is deliberately designed around the requirement to move every 2-3 years. Its also designed to maximize usability & dust extraction in a minimalist footprint. I've also designed it to be ready with as little setup as possible. I want to pass on my personal experience and share my designs with you.
Growing up around the shop, I became accustomed to having access to certain machine capabilities. During my college and early work years, I saved for and purchased small bench-top versions of many woodworking machines. I've always tried to buy the best I could afford and finance them with project savings or profits as I needed them. My goal is to not limit the size and quality of projects I can build in my small shop, despite being restricted to small machines, limited space and time.
For every one of my shop projects I have to consider: disassembly, organization, weight and efficiency. I view it as an engineering challenge that helps keep me honest in my goal of building the most space-efficient shop possible. From 2012-2014, I designed the layout & sketch for my current setup. I was encouraged to share my design via YouTube by a few friends. They appreciated my design ideas and thought you might too! You might be surprised how many Military Woodworkers there are out there and I know everyone is trying to Maximize Their Shop Space. I began my channel to share my processes & layout when I finally had the means to build my current setup in 2015.
